Sound card problem: Turtle Beach Pinnacle

Sound Card: Turtle Beach Pinnacle

Select 'Audio Device' as TBS Pro Series Wave Out / In

Arm for record, meters OK. Press record and get error message "An error occurred while recording - The specified device is in use by another application" (it isn't !!!). 'Details' indicate as TBS Pro Series Wave In 1, as expected. Track record meter locks up.

When closing Vegas I get a system error message " The program has performed an illegal operation ..."

..details : VEGAS#) has caused an invalid page fault in module KERNELL32.DLL at 018f:bff7b9f2, etc, etc .

Sound Forge runs fine.

The soundcard is selected with option "Windows Classic Wave Driver" in Audio Device Type, and is the default recording and playbeack device.

Any ideas ? (This is on my home machine for 'learning Vegas', as opposed to my studio machine )

Geoff - Is this only card in the box? Remember that Windows is accessing this device at all times - especially if the Turtle Beach is running with it's own mixer application (the one that installs a ton of extra stuff on the machine).

This could could explain the "An error occurred while recording - The specified device is in use by another application"

Update when you can.

It's the only soundcard in the box, and only app using it. Windows sound effects stuff is disabled.

Sound Forge accesses the card fine, in the same seeesion, both before and/or after Vegas refusing.

Hmm...so Forge works with the card just fine yet Vegas doesn't? You can record in Forge with no problem? Bizarre...sorry but I am drawing a blank here.

One more Q: Did this card ever work with Vegas or did this problem just start?

Update when you can,

You just refuse to let that card die....

Do the meters work when you arm a track?
Did you try turning SRP off, just to see if it will record only?

Meters work.

Turn off SRC and it goes ! (but that's not much use in the real world if layering tracks ...)

Must be the dodgey drivers ;-) If there is a way around it that would be great.

PS It's on my editing machine at home (rather than the m'track machine at my studio). Only use it for 'learning' on.
