Im not sure what settings i should have my sony vegas on for Windows, every time i edit my sony vegas clips audio to a suitable position for me, as soon as i render and listen to it after i am either super quiet compared to the music in the backround which normally turns out super loud.

Is the volume control on the master bus at its default? (double click it to reset). I have found that if I render with this set at a lower level, my audio comes out quieter.

I am no expert on audio, and your master bus audio looks as if its at default. All the audio looks very low except on track 10 which looks like you have lowered it manually, in fact some I can't even see the audio wave form.

How was the audio level when played before importing it into Vegas?

I think you may need someone with better understanding of audio, to reply to your original question.

Sorry, not much help.

What music in the background? You should have all your audio in Vegas, then mix.

Also, why are you on 40% at your sound card's output mixer?

I have music at the start of my video, but when i talk over it my voice ends up being too quiet for the music, but when i have it edited on sony vegas at the time my voice is fine, but as soon as its rendered and im listening to it as a mp4 file its super hard to hear me, should my sony vegas on my sound card be 100%?

I have music at the start of my video,

Ok...

but when i talk over it my voice ends up being too quiet for the music,

That's where you lower your music levels or raise your voice levels...

Does it sound "right" while mixing, before rendering to mp4?

but when i have it edited on sony vegas at the time my voice is fine, but as soon as its rendered and im listening to it as a mp4 file its super hard to hear me,

What happens when you render audio-only track, say, to WAV file? Good? No good?

should my sony vegas on my sound card be 100%?

I thought you're mixing your voice with music coming outside Vegas - through the soundcard mixer.

Well, not neceserily, you're loosing only about 60% precision on the way out to DA converters. 🙂

Sorry, I have more questions than answers.

  • - What format (and codec) are you rendering?
  • - Are rendering to 5:1, stereo, mono?
  • - What application / player is being used for playback?
  • - What sound card or converter are you using?
  • - Is Vegas and the playback app using the same audio device? (i.e., 'SoundMapper', 'Classic Wave driver', other?
  • - Are you using any audio plug-ins? if so, what?
