Sound Effect and music copyright question....

Craig wrote on 5/23/2017, 4:26 PM

I am opening a channel on youtube and I want to know where to find high quality sound effects ?

I need "FilmReel" running sound effect if anybody can find for me.

Next, I have this free intro that I got from net and it has used two-lines (5 sec.) of a popular music and I wonder if I can use it on YouTube and do not infringe any copyright. The releaser of the intro says its free to use but upon checking it is a song from oh wonder.

Song link:

Please provide your inputs

Go here https://www.youtube.com/music_policies and search "Oh Wonder". For "Body Gold" it says your video would be viewable worldwide (i.e not blocked or taken down) but you can't monetize it. The copyright owner of this song may monetize your video, causing ads to appear.

This looks worth a read: http://tubularinsights.com/copyrighted-music-in-video/

Thx man, I have decided to not use it as I don't want any issues later.

Can you please help me find Film Reel / Camera Negative running - Sound Effect.

Also, now I got another intro off net and it has a 4 Sec jingle which I am not able to detect if its created specifically for this intro OR its a Music by some artist - Can you tellme how where can I upload an audio file so that you can know and tellme if its indeed sum music as well !

Apart from that, I am hunting for good websites where I can find free to use music for all my video background and youtube wasn't good enough for sure....

Just Google "film projector sound effect free". Here's one result: https://retired.sounddogs.com/results.asp?CategoryID=1017&SubcategoryID=14&Type=1

Upload it to YouTube as private or unlisted and see if it flags up as a match. You could do the same with your 5 secs of Body Gold too.

If you want to know what some music is, try the Shazam app.

Try https://incompetech.com/

Or Google for "creative commons cc-by music". CC-BY license (= attribution) is free to sync with videos as long as you credit the artist in the way they want.

1] Unfortunately, they all seem to be paid on the mentioned above link. But, I did find some sounds on youtube itself.

2] Shazaam doesn't work on mentioned clips coz clip is to small to be recognzed.

3] Thx for the incompetech link. Can you pls recommend something specifically for food videos ? I have searched many many free music around, but they don't seem to be matching to the making food videos !

It depends what mood you want to create. Try adding "corporate" and/or "upbeat" to your searches.

The type of music that matches food videos is a matter of taste (sorry for the bad pun, but it's true). For my recipe videos I often use music that matches the ethnic origin of the food - e.g. musette for French-inspired food or mariachi for Mexican-inspired food etc..

Musopen has some music tracks that are both free and royalty free (not the same thing) but they are of variable quality.

When I have used music I had rights to (royality free and SCS Cinescore) I get constant copyright violations anyway. YouTube never tells me, I have to check myself. I have never lost a contest against those, but it is a pain to find out month or two after I posted a video someone else was making money of my work because they blanket claim stuff they don't have rights to hoping people won't argue. I have even had claims against public domain stuff I have used.

Hi

For information purposes it may be worth having a look at this discussion on a similar topic about CC claims on Youtube.

Guyz,

I have finally shortlisted a song from YouTube Audio Library which is labeled as - You’re free to use this song in any of your videos.

Know, the song is only 1:30 min long and am planning to use a loop of the song.

1] If I create a loop myself and play it on my 10 min video - Would tht still be okay and legal to use?

2] This song is already been looped by someone on youtube and posted to use freely provided I mention their attribution in my video description - Now what happens if I play his loop but don't add the attribution and links of his channel as stated by him. I mean this song is already free to use by youtube library and so I see no reason to put his link and CC license link on my description.

TheHappyFriar wrote on 5/26/2017, 11:11 PM

I had a song in one of my videos that was removed w/o notifying me because of a copyright claim. The audio was gone and I could not restore it. It was used in many other videos w/o issue so it is my understanding the copyright owner can selectively disallow use in any video they want.Steve

So use copyrighted music (even stuff that is legit now) with the understanding that at any time your content could be modified/removed w/o you being notified.

If the song is in the YouTube library then no worries now, just in the future. :)
