Sound effects move

After placing a sound effect on the time line I added another sound effect to the left of it. (nearer the head of the timeline). When I did the effect I had first placed on the timeline moved to the right. there was many seconds between the two and I don't know what made the first effect move nor how to lock it in place so it doesn't move.

Does anyone have a solution to this other than grouping which is a little cumbersom to use constantly while editing.

Grouping is one way. Once you group things they'll stay grouped forever, at least until you specifically ungroup them.

Another way is that if it is unlikely you'll change the timing between the sound effects you might want to render out the section in question to a .wav file. Then use the single wav file.

But, I don't see any real advantage to that over grouping. Again, once you group the two events, they'll move together.
