Sound level in vegas

When I am previewing in Vegass (9.0e 64 bit W7) the sound level is substantially lower than when playing a rendered file in VLC or Media player.

The same is true of any file, whether I've created it or downloaded it. The sound level is very low in Vegas as compared to playback with a media player.

Is there some mechanism to adjust the level in Vegas (I've alredy maxed out the volume of the autio track and the master mixer).

As it is, I raise the system volume to hear the previewed track but when I play it back in VLC or media player, it is blasting.

All tracks are normalized before previewing.

Thanks,

Mac

Windows 7 can have different volumes for different applications.

Double click the speaker icon. Then click the word "Mixer"

Then you should see levels for all the different applications you have running.

Not related to your actual problem, which as gwailo suggested is probably external to Vegas....

If you've normalised all tracks, then you'll find lots of red 'overs' on the master - which you should be avoiding. Output should be fully max loud with the master meters approaching 'zero'.
