Sound Mapper error--HELP

I haven't use VF for a while, since finishing a project. Now when the program starts I get this message:
"An error occurred starting Video Factory. The reason cannot be determined."

Then program opens and then I get

"An error occurred while starting playback"
details: The playback device MS Sound Mapper is in use by another application."

I am unaware of anything else running. I don't even know what Sound Mapper is.

I reinstalled the program and get the same error.

Any ideas?

Hi Scharme
Do you have problems with your sound card, is media player working ok?. I think MS Sound mapper may be a file related to your audio, perhaps the sound card driver. If there is a problem with audio, re-install the sound card driver.

You might try running the DirectX diagnostics. Go to START, RUN, and type DXDIAG. This will run the diagnostic program and might tell you if there is some sort of problem with the Soundcard drivers.
