sound skipping

I am trying to edit a video with sound, but when I edit the sound or try to shorten it, the sound skips and I can't get it to do right. It makes it extremly hard to edit when the sound is out of sync. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Hi @Jody-Nasworthy, Is the audio separate or embedded with the video? Are there plug-ins running? How are you shortening the audio? If the audio is a lossy format, try transcending it te PCM <.wav>. Posting the files' MediaInfo may be helpful.
