Speeding up a certain segment of video

I am trying to make an instructional video and there is a rather dry/boring assembly portion the I would like to playback at about 8x the normal rate.

Does anyone know how to do this?

It seems if I try to adjust playback rate it lengthens or loops the segment I want to speed up. If I use the crtl click methods it seems to cut frames out??

I'm interested in this also. I was trying to do the exact same thing and couldn't figure it out after a ton of googling. In the end, I just edited out the part.

I'm also interested in slo-mo. I'm sure it's the same setting or plugin. I'm just too new to all this.

This is one of the very simple tricks I show you in my books.

Just hold down the Alt key as you drag the event clip on your timeline longer or shorter. The shorter you make it, the faster your video will play.

You can also right-click on the event and select Properties. Under the Video Event tab on the panel that opens you can specify a playback speed.

I restarted the program and the ctrl drag option started working good.

Use the Ctrl key, not the Alt key.
