Spin Down ExternaL?

Does an external hard drive also sleep when I set windows xp to turn off monitor and disk- spin down after XXXXXXX amount of time

My system drive spins down after 1 hour of quiet time. However, my WD USB2 drives don't spin down as a result of that setting. I had to download WD Spindown. You can also use the utility to stop them and unplug without a problem.

thats why i asked , cuse I dont recall them spinning down with the system....maybey I am missing something....sure would be nice to not have to take the extra steps to shut down for the night.
