Ok, I tried what you suggested. I have two different clips obove/below each other. I pan/cropped each one for the portion that I want such that they would occupy half the screen. But when I play, I only see the top one and it's in the middle of the screen (black on the sides). I used the hand tool in the pan/crop to push each to the opposit side, so that they would together occupy the screen. What do I need to do to force them to the sides? I'm running VMS9B Platinum.
If you want to crop as well as reposition then you'll have to use both pan/crop and track motion. Pan/crop lets you choose the portion you want to see, track motion lets you move them where you want them in the frame.
Great, I got it to work. It's a little tricky, until you realize that the entire track is being keyframed, and all you want is a portion of it to "re-position". You have to key frame on either side of the re-positioned scene and set "Hold" attribute, to keep from affecteg the entire track.
