split-track cd

I want to make a split-track cd with the instrumental on one track or channel and the voices on the other. Making two tracks in Vegas is not a problem. The problem comes when I try to render the project and preserve the 2 channels. The voices on one channel (left) and the instruments on the other channel (right). Does anybody have any ideas?

The track headers have pan controls.
If each track is a mono track (I assume), pan the voices full left and instruments full right.
