Any Media fX applied to a clip in Project Media will be applied to any part(s) of that media when it occurs on the timeline.

Thanks John. I've never seen that written anywhere!!! What I ended up doing is creating a sub-clip of one of the two split sections. Then applying Media FX to either stays with the event.

That's what MediaFX does - it applies it to the MEDIA wherever it is on the timeline no matter how many events it affects.

It sounds like you want to apply the FX to the one event on the timeline instead.

Alternately, you could create a sub-clip and then apply the MediaFX to the sub-clip media. But I'd just apply it to the individual event on the timeline instead.

Places you can apply effects:

  • Event - affects just that one event
  • Track - Affects all events on that track
  • Media - Affects all events that are from that media no matter where they are on the timeline
  • Project - Affects the entire project
