I have a 2 hour .avi and/or a .mpg file that i want to render onto a DVD. How can I split this 2+ hour video onto two dvd discs (because it wont fit on one) and have it work properly, i.e take out the first and just pop in the next disk

I have screenblast, sonic my dvd, ulead moviefactory 2 and will be mailing to family to play on their dvd player. Other 60 min. or less videos I have made will play on their player, because they have all been one disk.

Thanks for any help.

You might not have to split the video. There is a free program out there called ReJig (www.rejig.org). You can use it to compress your MPEG to 70% of it's size without any apparent loss of quality. Once compressed, you can now burn it to DVD and it should fit on one disc.

You can easily render the video into two separate sections. Highlight the first hour on the timeline and then when using Make Movie make sure you check the "render loop region only" box. This will render only the selected section. After this render is done, drag the first yellow triangle (you'll see what i mean when you make a selection) all the way from the beginning of the timeline to the end of the video. This will select the other portion of the video. Render this as a second output file.

As far as having the second disc play automatically without going through menues, that depends on the DVD authoring software you use and not all of them support this. I haven't ever used either of the ones you have, so i couldn't tell you.
