Spontaneous Histogram on video event

I was just about to render the final version of my documentary, and a histogram appeared on a clip on the timeline. It had never been there before, it isn't an fx, and it isn't on the original file when viewed in WMP, Nero or Media Player Classic. It only shows up in Vegas. I pulled the avi (Cineform) into a new veg, and it showed up once and then not a second time, but then it did again on the third try. Has anyone seen this before and know how to get rid of it?

Edit: To answer an obvious question: it DOES show up on a render.

Looks like a Cineform First Light histogram to me, but you would know about that.

That's EXACTLY what the histogram looks like. Thanks for the hint...this may give me a good starting point. I'm familiar with Cineform as I use it extensively, but I've never had the First Light functions "bleed" into Vegas. On top of that, I have hundreds of Cineform clips on the timeline, and I'm not sure why just a few have the histograms. I didn't even think I had First Light. I'll check into this.

If you got the clip from someone else, maybe they forgot to turn off Active Metadata. Check this thread out at dvinfo.net:

All Cineform products except Neo Scene allow you to modify the Active Metadata. Neo Scene only allows you to turn it on and off (I think, since I have Prospect HD).

In the CineForm status viewer, simply turn the Histogram off (or Tools field as it is soon to be called.) It can't accidentally turn on, nor have we provided a mechanism to permanently turn on the histogram for particular clips on frames (use you rendered it it at some point.) There is only way this can seem random, and is if you can sharing FirstLight color databases via a tool like DropBox, using a older version on the the CineForm software -- I doubt you are doing that (I only just thought that one up a week ago.) More info on the cool use of DropBox here : http://vimeo.com/10024749
