It wasn't clear in my last post (about 4 above) that I CANCELED my Amazon order and then ordered via their "other" merchants. My patience ran out with Amazon! Hope everyone gets their book soon, but I had to jump ship to another vendor. Couldn't take the chance ...

Amazon has a habit of not updating things. I've ordered from them before and the same thing happened. I MY case, I emailed them to find out what's going on and they subsequently updated my info page.

I'm sure they'd do the same with yours if you emailed them with a "what's up" note. If you sound a bit upset or "hostile", they may even give you a "$5" discount due to the inconvenience. They did that for me last year. Mind you, they didn't offer me anything off the current order.

Here is how Amazon responded to my email:

In looking into the situation, I see that the shipment of your order has been delayed by a system error. Our technical specialists are working hard to correct the problem so that we can ship your order as soon as possible.

Don'y know what that means, but still no shipping status.

I see now that Amazon has fixed everything: the new shipping information reads " Delivery estimate: October 12, 2004 - October 20, 2004" :-)

At least with amazon.de it is a good idea, to check price from time to time. At the beginning, the book was announced with 75 Euro, now it is down ot 45 Euro.

Here in good old Europe ist was not shipped yet.

OK I've been reading this thread and feeling embarassed over the fact that I can't wait for the Vegas 4.0 book.
But I only got Vegas 4.0 in mid July so I'm a complete newbie in all this.

I just wanted to ask you SPOT if the newer book would be any good for me?
I mean are there so many changes between 4.0 and 5.0? Should'nt I just get the 5.0 book?

Thanks

golli,

That is a good question. I too have the version 4 book, but I did also order version 5.

I'm assuming that SPOT's experience with Vegas over the last year would be enough of a reason for the new book. Of course, Vegas 5 does have extra added features too, but my feelings are that even the Vegas 4 repeats will be even better presented.

SPOT would certainly be in the best position to comment on this, though.

I'd get the 5 book whether you're working with 4 or 5.
Much of the information in the 5 book is relevant to 4.
