I have the Newblue stabilizer OFX for windows on V14 and V15 and I was wondering if it was en par with the Mercalli v4 (which I have on V14). With the Mercalli V4 " Vegas14 to 15 - 99 dollar update" debacle in mind, which is best? Any advice?
I installed NBFX Stabilizer, but it doesn't work in VP14 and VP15 - the effect is not in the Video FX list. On the same computer, it is visible in Vegas Pro 11 and 13 (Sony version).
So, I thought that it is not supported in VP14+, am I wrong?
You can compare the possible differences yourself in 14 and 15 ( 15 only Mercalli with watermark), why do you want advice from others who don't know your workflow nor your footage.
I know I can compare it myself, but the reason I ask it is quite simple, (and not because I am lazy), but for starters it is very difficult to compare: there are many settings (and as you point out many sources and workflows) and the result differs so much that I cannot even tell which is "best" as the result is different. I am only trying to get a general idea what the overall consensus is of which product is best in most situations. If someone can point pro and cons that would also be great. I am willing to pay the extra 99 dollar only if it is a better product than Newblue stabilizer (or Vegas own build in stabilizer).

It works on v14 and v15, I got my NB stabilizer for windows somewhere around 2013, it is legacy sw but still seem to work for V14 and V15...
I looked at this briefly a year or so ago, and dismissed the NewBlue as older technology with similar results to vegas' internal stabilizer. Caveat: things may have changed and my analysis was pretty minimal.
At the other end of the scale is mocha pro. You could try that for 500 bucks or so... :)
I tried the NewBlue stabilizer a few years ago and found it worse than nothing. Every time I closed a project and re-opened I had to re-run the stabilizer and at least half the time when I rendered I would get a few frames at the beginning of each stabilized event saying the stabilizer need to be re-run. It stabilized a little better than the Sony built-in unit, but in no way can it be compared with Mercalli 4. After about a month I just uninstalled it and deleted it from my computer. In fact, the only two NewBlue plugin I now use are color corrector pro and the titling EX in Movie Studio 12. I got tired of trying to get all the later plugin working in later versions of Studio and Vegas. YMMV.
