How are you running deshaker in vegas 64 bit. It doesn't support 64bit. How are you installing this?

This is about the only thing I use VitualDub for, so I don't have the knowledge of most on this forum about it. Vdub installed as a 32 bit prog. If you search for and download the "New Deshaker for Vegas" (even though I think the instructions may still be for V8) and put the .vdf file and the Vegas script in the proper folders per the instructions, it works fine. It's not running as a Vegas plug-in, the script calls up Vdub in the background, and gives you its interface to input the settings you want.

I find Deshaker has very desirable features and I am still using it as my stabilizer (I had no luck with VP11’s built in version – apart from adding way too much zooming). Deshaker works great in VP11, latest version. Here are some notes on how to install.

Any version of VirtualDub may be used – I use the latest (I think) namely 1.9.11. Yes, it is a 32bit version – there is no 64bit version of Deshaker. I have it installed in a folder in the C:\ root.

If you intend using New Deshaker (latest version is 8.1.0.2) then you cannot use a version of Deshaker later than 2.4. The versions after that (at least combined with versions 1.9.10 and 1.9.11 of VirtualDub) will do an automatic correction for the “before” frames (30 frames by default) used for border fill, messing the event alignment.

I have updated the lastest version of John Meyer’s Deshake script to not apply the frame correction and am using that with Deshaker version 3.0. I have not yet analysed whether v3.0 actually produces better stabilization but assumes that will be the reason for updating. I really like the New Deshaker since it allows easy selection (drop down list) of render presets, as well as saving stabilization presets, for different clip resolutions etc. However that is one of the problems with the .dll scripts versus the older .js ones – they cannot be easily updated. It would be really great if Andy could actually update his New Deshaker for the latest versions of VirtualDub and Deshaker (not much required).

I cannot remember where the installer initially places the New Deshaker files. However all that is required is to copy the following to the Script Folder of VP11. (Same for John Meyer’s Deshake.js script).
New Deshaker.dll
New Deshaker.dll.config
New Deshaker.png

The only further requirement is that the Log file needs to be written to a location with write access (not the C:\Programs Files folders – they will not work).

Edit: The free GoPro Cineform codec is a good one to use with Deshaker and VirtualDub.

Hope that helps.
Willem.

Could you make the revised script available? I've been using Deshaker version 3.0 in which I frameserve from Vegas into VirtualDub. It works, but requires a lot of manual input. A script would be a great time-saver. Thanks.
