Steadyhand can do a great job, though there are pros and cons. Do a search in the Vegas forum and you'll see lots of postings about it.

I've used the pan and crop to do some stabilization, but it's a slow manual process. Divide the clip up for each movement, and then set the ends to be in the same position as the beginning of each clip (have to set the beginning of the next clip the same as the end of the preceeding). OK for slow wavering movement, which I get when hand holding my DV camera at 20X optical zoom.
