Star Wars Scroll for a Newbie

djvb wrote on 10/15/2002, 1:43 PM
Would any of you experts be willing to walk me (a newbie to Vegas Video - only have had it a few days) though how to create a scrolling credit like in Star Wars? I looked up the previous thread on this, but it's all Greek to me!

I've been able to create a basic scroll, but it won't "disappear into infinity" as it rolls up. Also, is there a way for me to make the background look like stars, or a different color besides black?

If anyone is willing to help, you have NO idea how much I'd appreciate it. The manual has been useless in helping me with this. You can reply here or e-mail me at djvb@aol.com. Many thanks in advance!

You can simulate this *somewhat* by using the "squeeze" effect (I think that's what it's called) in one of the tabs in the property page for generated media (the page where you type in your text), but it isn't going to give you a true perspective effect, and it won't look quite right.
So, I don't think there is a way to do this with the fx included with Vegas - you'll need a 3rd party plug-in that allows for true perspective effects.

As for a star background, if you have some sort of paint program, like photoshop, you could just make your own and import it into vegas as a still image.

Djvd

Have a look at what I did: Example
http://www.chienworks.com/media/vidfact/textdisp?drwho-rvwars.txt

This was unrefined, as I was only having fun, anyway if you would like to know in detail how I did it, email me and I will send you a veg file with an example.
Please make the email subject: Vegas - Star Wars

Hi djvb...

Can't help on the text request but can tell you where to recreate a starfield. Go to creativecow.net, tutorials, and you should find a starfield tutorial written by DSE. I have actually produced the starfield myself following the tutorial..its easy and very impressive...at least it should solve part of your problem!!

regards.
