I don't believe that video was Vegas Movie Studio, but the full version instead. Not sure if Movie Studio will do that.

HOWEVER, there is a very nice titling program call BLUFF TITLER

http://www.blufftitler.us/

that will do that easily (and much, much more) It's not expensive and worth buying. Demo is free.

I use that effect (the "Star Wars" scroll) as an intro to my cable access TV show ... see:

http://n1jdu.org/Fandom/Sci_Fi_Fandom_26a.ram

I also use Bluff Titler to make the "floating" words that come directly after the scroll.

actually i did this very thing (with slight differences) in VMS 8.0 (can also in 6.0). just create a new generated text event, use the keyframing in the Placement tab to control the movement of the text and in the Effects tab, select the Deformation option that you need.

looking at the Youtube clips, it's amazing how many different ways there are to do this.

I dont think it was MSP 8.0 what was shown in the youtube. I can't get the giration on the Z axis... What the user shows in the video (drop down showing 3 displays in one screen) I cannot get...
I cannot read the text in the displays since the video is very blurry.

I tried that, but the key is the rotation of the text in the Z axis, which gives the effect of the letters lying on their back...

Nice tease Eugenia. That's the 3D track motion I was hoping for. Richard is correct, Movie Studio can't do that.

I just tested with a trial version of Vegas Pro. I can do it with Vegas Pro. The MSP 8 is different. !
Bummer !
Regretably, my Pro expires in a couple of days.

you were talking to me right?
sorry didn't realize it was that much a 3D effect. but you're right - track motion in VMS does not offer manipulation of a third dimension.
maybe what you could do is make a short little movie with just the text scroll while you still have Pro then import that into your MSP project.

I played with this a little last night, it doesn't look great but as gmes29 mentioned, us the Deform effect - Squeeze top preset and adjust. Then use Track Motion to "shorten" the top of the track down by a third to half. This will cause the text to "go off screen" about halfway up the screen as it's deformed smaller.

I'd suggest BluffTitler as mentioned before. It will do what you want and look much better then what I suggested above. I don't have it yet but am considering buying it.

Blufftitler is a great programme, but not free. If you're only after the starwars effect, why don't you use Windows Movie Maker? It's free, and installed on all windows computers.

Thank you all for all your help. Yes, I don't want to spend more money, although Bluftitler is a great program. And yes, I found WMM (which I had not paid much attention since it is rather primitive) which sort of does what I want.

Thanks again to all of you.
