I found this procedure (which was posted in the Movie Studio site, which I was using previously, but the same can be done in Vegas) easy and effective.

Also, search this site for Star Wars. There is a free plug-in that allows you to tilt your text, etc. and there are also instructions (plug-in values) that help you get it right.

I've used it twiced--works great.

Also remember that in Vegas 5 you can simply use 3d Track Motion to tilt the text.
