I'm trying to emulate something I found on a DVD that had video clips for presentation on it, that allowed you to select the media on the menu, and then it loaded it up paused, so that you could start it whenever you were ready to... Is there anyway to do this in DVDA?
What does that mean, it "loaded up paused"? Like, choosing an item starts the video but holds at the video's first frame? And what do you, as the viewer / presenter do to "start it whenever you're ready"?
I guess I don't get how this is different, or better, than just choosing an item off the menu when you're ready to play it.
I think what you are refering too is called a "still cell" - to implement this type of a cell requires that either your authoring package supports this, or that you do some low-level editing of the DVD structure. DVDA doesn't have any support for still cells.
However, you can simulate this with an intermediate menu and a hidden button.
Rather than linking from your main menu to the movie, you link to a submenu. The background of this submenu is actually a still picture taken from the first frame of your movie. On this submenu is a button that points to the actual movie; the button has no text or image and has the selected and active color set set to none. So when the viewer presses "enter" on the remote, the button is activated and the movie starts.
Depending on the player there may not be a seamless transition from the menu to the movie.
