Starting video clips at different points in the timeline with a midi controller???

What I want to do is this. I have an animated charactor that I do a TV show with.
I use animated GIFs to make him talk, by having a still gif and then dropping an animated one into the timeline. It works great. I have the opportunity to do this show live with callers but dont have the means to get him on the screen.
I do have an idea. Since I use animated GIFS I have many differnt poses for my charactor ready to go, I want to drop them into the main timeline and use my midiman 2octave music keyboard to trigger the different poses on the fly while doing the voice for the charactor and interacting with the public.
I have the logistics of having the video card to do this. I just need to know how to set each video clip to trigger when i hit a certain key and loop then return to a default state of rest when the key is released.

I basically need to set it up like a sampler for images.

Any help would be appreciated...
Thanks

There is some video=trigger software out there, but Vegas ain't it....you COULD line up say...10 of the images, and use the keys on the keyboard(typewriter) to access those 10, but that's about all I can think of off hand, if you want to use Vegas. Too bad this isn't a common request, because I can see the value in it. As I say, there is musical keyboard triggering video info available, I just don't remember where I saw it. I'll look around.

Do a google on "Arkaos" - this is a midi controlled VJ app. We VJs (video jockeys, for the uninitiated!) use this type of kit all the time, as far as I can tell, arkaos is stable and reliable and will do exactly what you want. Depending on your CPU and RAM, you may want to compress the clip, but give it a look.

Sound Forge, which can also play video including to external monitor, can do region playback triggers from MIDI.
