Startup problem

When Vegas (22) is started, and I select a video project to load, it comes up "rendering". I hit cancel and it says you'll lose what is done... are you sure? (yes, no) I hit "yes". Then it starts rendering again and I'm in a loop. I discovered if I cancel 5 times it finally stops. Can you tell me how to disable this? or fix this if it is a bug?

According to your description, you are not "loading" a project file, but adding it as a nested project to a new project. VEGAS will then try to generate a proxy file to ensure that you can preview it directly in your new project.

To open a project file in an existing VEGAS instance, you can choose one of following two:

  • Click File -> Open and select your project file.
  • Right-drag your project file into the timeline and select "Open Project".

Personally, I prefer the second one.

Using VEGAS Pro 22 build 248 & VEGAS Pro 21 build 208.

Could it be that VEGAS is trying to build a Proxy file for events on the timeline? Without knowing what is in the project, it's hard to say.

You might try going to Options - Preferences - Video Tab and change the Automatically Create Proxy files from "Auto" to "off" and see if that makes a difference.
