Stedicam - inexpensive alternatives

Im looking at buying a device to give me steady or fairly smooth "floating" handheld and walk around shots. with all the experience here I was hoping you could share some wisdom and low cost alternatives that work. and has anyone have experiene with the portable LCD field moniter on studio1productions.com

I tried deshaker and like it. Good tip farss. a faster shutter speed would improve the look. and it seems I should Deshake the original camera footage before I edit.

I use the inexpensive alternative you described above and it works quite well. The only difference is that I don't have a monopod with a swivel head so I am shooting at a slightly downward angle.

Which monopod with a swivel head do you have? I may buy one.
