I think that comparing any app like Vegas, Cubase, etc., in terms of the included plugins is kind of like comparing cars for the kind of tires they come with. Additionally, WaveLab's proper comparison ("apples to apples") would be SoundForge instead of Vegas.

Thanks. Actually i'm new to all these tools, and still exploring them. I have only been using Logic Audio Platinum on Mac so far.

So can anyone tell me how would i expand the stereo in Vegas.

Waves makes a nice plugin called the "S1 Stereo Imager". www.waves.com

Here's how to achieve similar results using Vegas without a plugin.
1. Open a Stereo file and place it on a track. Set the Fader to 0dB.
2. Goto the far left, right click on the fader area and select "Duplicate Track".
3. Right Click on the audio of the duplicated track and select "Channels Combine"
4. Goto the mono track and click on the "invert Track Phase" button
5. Lower that Track volume fader to -40dB
6. Playback the mixed tracks
7 Gradually raise the level of the mono tracks fader to give the mix a wider stereo image. Going too far on raising that fader level will remove too much center channel and will sound strange, you'll be able to hear it when you've gone too far.
8. Adjust the fader of that mono track to give you the desired wider image.

Check out Izotope's Ozone 3...it's got presets for excitation & widening. It's been called a "poor man's Waves". I've found it to be easy to use and the sound is really good.

Thanks for that. I've tried your method on some audio samples, and it seems that it varies from file to file. It made a bit of difference, but in some cases it didn't make much difference. I guess, i'm still in search of a compatible and affordable stereo fx plugin for Vegas.
