Still bad integration - Boris Red 4

"Due to limitations in the Sony Vegas API, you must manually set both the project settings and duration in the Boris Red interface."

is a shame a powerful plugin for vegas still has this poor integration

is this really a vegas limitation? how others plugins adjust the transition time automaticaly and this ne not?

the project settings is not a problem, but put the transition time is a anoying

:(

Quite honestly, I have found it better to work in Red (3GL) as a stand-alone app.

Ciao,

you can bypass the problem using a copy of your clip in Vegas timeline.
Apply to the clip and open the sw, then import the same clip and adjust projects setting and duration, make your effects on the imported clip, then move effects on track from vegas and apply.

I know that if a little frustrating to adjut each time settings, but it require just 5 seconds.

Better it's to work in Red as stand alone and export as AVI or Images sequence.

Ciao ;-)

i use standalone too, but for composition.

most of time, i use boris as transition, and then, i become sad... ;)

i put a transition - ow, is too short - go back to boris, wait it open, adjust time, back to vegas, adjust transition time in vegas, making sure is the same time, and try again...

if not in desired duration, repeat operation.... imagine doing this in a long project..

as boris only show a frame from the a/b in the tracks, i must go back to vegas to test...

THAT is the problem... what shoud be a "drag to desired duration" become a nightmare...

The integration SHOULD be a bit better. The awesome thing about a Plug-In is that you don't have to wait for a Render/Export/Import. When you use RED as a Stand Alone... seems like it would take more time. By using RED as a Plug-In... seems like you should be able to Jump in & out of RED to make changes a lot quicker. With VEGAS, this is not the case.

One Frame Preview? WTF?

What if I need to Keyframe something in RED? I only get 1 Frame to work with so I have to go In & Out... In & Out... In & Out of RED.

VEGAS w/ RED is an Awesome idea... but it definitely needs a bit more thought/work.

good point . keyframing also is impossible as plugin...

i think strange this limitation, because i use boris a loooong time, since very early versions with premiere (prem 4.2 and boris 1.2, something like that..). and it worked fine, but imagine vegas, a very modern nle, not have the ability to send "video" to a "old" plugin like this, not give the project specs, is "weird" to me... as vegas was much better "built" and stable at my eyes, but lacks some things that make it sort of "weak"...

new version of vegas, new version of boris. i was hoping a better integration. to me, vegas only loose to other in the "plugin count" department. if vegas had good integration with some "power" plugins, i really could "fill my chest" and say: "vegas is to me, the best NLE in the world" ;)

as im brazilian, and here we have a "weird video style", the most people like "fuzzy and fill with 3d things" videos, as other topic i posted, most editors here use premiere/boris red/hollywood fx/titlemotion/titledeko (olders versions).

the question is: vegas have some plugins to compare with a old version of NLE? no... i gess vegas still growing, and one time, we will have no reasons to think in other NLE solutions....
