Still having burning issues

2 days ago I posted:

"I'm recently new to Vegas and have been loving it. But now that my first project is completed on it I am having issues burning it to DVD with DVD Architect 2.0b. Every time I burn a project it looks like it's going smoothly with no errors at all, but then the finished DVD turns up a dud. I can see on the back of the disc that it has been writen to but no files show up when I explore it and it won't play in my dvd player. I am using a p4 3ghz with 1gig of ram and a
hl-dt-st dvd ram gsa-4160b DVD drive. Please help!"

After posting I found a firmware upgrade for my burner and was able to burn successfully on fujifilm +R media. Since this worked so well I quickly ordered a new spindle of dvd's (verbatim -R which my burner should have no problem writing to if you read it's specs) and BANG! another coaster acting the exact same way as before. I'm really at a loss to figure this one out.

Unfortunately, this is not an exact science.

My suggesiotn would be to download a copy of some other burning software and see if you have problems with it burning coasters. If you do, that would point the finger at your burner or your media - so you've at least eliminated one of the suspects.

If you don't have problems with the other software then you know that DVDA is the culprit and you can formally report the problem to Sony and at the same time you have a solution.

I've found that CopyToDVD seems to work very well and can co-exist with DVDA on the same machine. Another to try is Nero, but CopyToDVD has the advantage of a 30 day fully functional free trial.
