still images out of sync

I have pulled still images into the timeline, set them up to fit the screen with a 4:3 ratio and am able to view them clearly untill closing the vegas project. After re-opening, the still are placed in odd and unusual places (ex. The top left hand corner of the screen and miniaturized). Any idea as to what might be causing this?

Not sure I understand, but...
is it possible that you zoomed the timeline in, a lot, in your original edit, and once you reopened the edit, the timeline is zoomed out (making the stills seem small).

If so, try this.
Click your curson over the stills.
Click the "up arrow" repeatedly until still get larger. Also, drag the bottom of the video track down (on the left hand side of the timeline) to increase the height of the timeline.
