Stills at full resolution?

OldTimer wrote on 8/24/2003, 7:29 AM
I captured a still fom the preview window & it got saved as a JPEG. Later when my wife asked for a copy to be printed I imported it into my photo editing program & the program told me that the picture was 363 x 288 pixels. I was expecting 720 x 576 for PAL. Is it possible to capture at full resolution? Can I assume that the same clip when dropped on the timeline is also not the full resolution?

Hello,

Get your preview window so it is "free-floating", then re-size it until the
preview size matches the project size (720x576). Then save your JPG.
It will be much larger.

Vegas always saves JPGs as the size of the "Preview", not the "Project".

Be warned though at that resolution they never look that good when printed out. With PS you can get them a little better.

You could just set your preview to "full" and it does the same thing as resizing it. Then you must deinterlace the image in a photo editor before you have prints made.

In Vegas 3, right-click the display and choose "Display at project size". In Vegas 4, just change the preview setting to "Best Full"

This will give you the full size.

Like farss mentioned...you have to deinterlace the pictures before they
are usable as stills.

Use the Photoshop Filter called "Video...Deinterlace" to remove that blurry
look. I just take the default settings (Odd fields...Interpolate).
