Stitching AVCHD MTS camcorder files together in VMS 15 Platinum

I haven't addressed this in a long while, but would love to have an in-editor solution.

It applies to several prior VMS versions.

I mostly record Bluegrass music band sets approaching an hour in length with 3 Canon camcorders: M500, HFG10, and HFG30. In continuous recording, each one generates several 2GB AVCHD MTS files.

If I simply assemble them on the timeline butted up together and play the timeline, there is an audio and video glitch at each intersection of the clips.

A buddy of mine with similar cameras and MTS files has an old version of Vegas Pro and tells me he doesn't have the problem.

The horrible clumsy slow ingestion software from Canon will "stitch" the files correctly, but years ago I went on and on with Canon with other problems, who disclaimed any responsibility for the software with the Canon name, made by some 3rd party.

My solution for years has been to use tsMuxeR https://www.videohelp.com/software/tsMuxeR to stitch the files into an M2TS.

My questions:

1. Am I missing something with VMS 15 Platinum (and prior versions)?

2. Does Vegas Pro stitch clips correctly?

3. If so, why doesn't VMS do it?

4. Would that be a valid official feature request?

Windows 7 & 10.

Sometimes, (depends on variable or constant framerate) Mp4joiner does a good job.

Thank you so so so much. I spent a lot of time on the phone today with Canon and they were useless. I was ready to throw away my new camcorder.
Have people had any issues with just dropping MP4 files into the timeline and losing a frame's audio at the join point with any other brands of video cameras?

Is the Data Import Utility mentioned available for your camera?

I'm in NY. I had two M300 camcorders that worked fine when I used fjoiner.exe. Those camcorders both died (the same week both sensors fried). I got an HF R80 and that's the one that now has 4 gb files that don't work with fjoiner.exe but it seems like Mp4joiner may be working.

Checking your US Canon site there's no mention of a Data Import Utility being available for Canon Vixia HF R80. Let us know how you get on with Mp4joiner. This could be a problem for others, not just Canon users, as technology moves on and everyone tries to keep up with the changes.
