Stop a pont on the timeline

I would like to know how to quickly mark a spot on the timeline while video is being played. What I have noticed is that when you are playing a clip and you get to a part that you want the cursor to be place and you press the space bar to stop play it goes back to the beginning. I hate that. What am I not doing right or better yet what is the keystroke.

Hit "m" to mark spots as the timeline moves and hit "enter" to stop it in it's tracks.

Thanks for the tip. I will try it.

You might try using the Enter key to pause, or change the setting in Prefs to make the spacebar play/pause rather than play/stop.

To pause using your mouse, click on the double bar icon which is just right of the play arrow. The curson will stop on the timeline where it is.
