Stop Motion

Is there an easy way to accomplish this with a video camera? I was thinking about doing one of those things where people are on the ground yet moving around like cars.

It is a great capture app and has very simple stop motion capture as well.

If you are really going to get into it, however, there are about five other specialized capture applications specifically designed for nothing but stop motion. They have "onion skinning" and all sorts of other things that help you line up one shot with the previous shot(s).

I do some stop motion with Vegas's capture utility. Simply press Ctrl R to capture a still, the utility will name them sequentilally. Be sure to set the option to deinterlace on capture.
