Stop Motion/Freeze Frame

Hi all, I am not sure the title is strictly correct here. In VMS HD Platinum 11 Production Suite can anyone advise how I would do the following. To play a clip part way through, then freeze on a frame for say 2 seconds, then continue to play the remainder of the clip. I feel it should be possible, but can't find out how it is done.

In the Pro version one can use velocity envelopes to stop the motion for a time, though this only affects the video so the audio has to be handled separately to maintain sync.

Probably the easiest thing to do is to find the frame you want to pause on, set the preview quality to Best/Full, and click the little floppy disk icon above the right corner of the preview window. This saves that frame as a still image file and loads it into project media. Split the clip on the timeline and drag the still image file up into that split, making it as long or short as you want.

I own VMS HD Platinum 10 and it does not have "Velocity Envelopes". It only has envelopes for "Track Composite Level" and "Track Fade to Color".

If VMS Plat 11 contains Velocity Envelopes then creating the "Freeze Frame" effect is easy. If it doesn't, then the second method suggested by Chienworks above is the only way to do it.

I've done it that way for the past two years making High School Football highlight videos for my nehpew. It takes a little longer to insert each "Freeze" but it works very well.

One thing not covered in this tutorial was to change your Preview quality to "Best Full" before you save the snapshot to file, as Chienworks mentioned above. This allows your "Frozen" frame to closer to the quality of the moving frames surrounding it.

Here's another way to do this.
1. Move the cursor to where you want to freeze frame and press "S" to split the clip.
2. Press the left or right arrow to move the cursor one frame and press "S" again
3. Right click on the single frame and select "Create Subclip"
4. Stretch this single frame for the length you need.
