Strange burn warning

BusyBee wrote on 6/4/2005, 8:48 AM
Nero is my all round end-of-process burn engine. It never fails with me and is very safe. I have thrown away too many disks in my life to start changing my burning habits when I am happy with a burner...
Although Nero's burning engine is famous, DVDA's preparation process is cool and well designed.
I made a home dvd today this way, and Nero reported a strange warning when I started the burn process: "DVD may not be playable. DVD videofiles reallocation failed. Filesize is not a multiple of a logical block size (2kb)". I decided to continue the process (on a DVD-RW), and in the end did not encounter the announced reading problem.
Is DVDA not 100% compliant with DVD making rules ? It must be a small problem (as it doesn't result in stopping the dvd from playing), but it may be a problem on certain players... I thought is may interest you to know about this.

DVDAS creates files that are one byte too large - that's why Nero is complaining. I've not seen any reports of players that wouldn't play these DVD's though.

Old problem. Here's the solution:

Workaround to Nero error message

Upgrading to latest versions of DVDA 2.0 or 3.0 solves the problem.

The compliance warning arose with DVD Architect Studio 2.0 (build 22), which is the latest Studio version downloadable as of today... You probably refer to the full DVD Architect version.

I don't know anything about DVD Architect Studio. We get questions from time to time here about the Studio version. I wish there was a way to identify them so we don't waste our time -- and the time of the person posting the message -- providing wrong answers because they are based on incorrect assumptions.

Do you mean DVD Architect Studio owners are not welcome here ?

Of course you're welcome! I just meant that Sony needs to provide a way to either identify users by the products they use, or perhaps have a separate forum for Studio users so we don't end up posting back and forth at cross purposes. It would save frustration and time, and everyone would get their answers sooner. I didn't intend any disrespect towards you.

Actually there is a separate forum entitled "Movie Studio/VideoFactory". It would probably help if the title were changed to "Vegas Movie Studio".

In my humble Sony Media Software Forum member's mind, the "Movie Studio/VideoFactory" forum is made for Vegas Movie Studio users, and the "DVD Architect" forum for all DVD Architect version users. If this point of view is not what the forum administrators expect, it should clearly be signposted.
If you prefer that the DVD Architect Studio users post on the Movie Studio/VideoFactory forum and not on the DVD Architect forum, the naming of the forums is not clear. In this case, I suggest you should indeed rename the Movie Studio/VideoFactory forum, and simply call it the "Studio Product Family" forum.

Quite a while ago I suggested that Sony create a separate forum for DVDA-Studio users (as I was at that time.) The response was, basically, that the DVDA forum was sufficient for all.
