Strange Error Message in Vegas 5.0

All of the sudden when I start up Vegas 5.0 I get the following error message:

Adobe Default Windows Sound Driver

The audio input is not activated. Recording audio is not possible
Please click on the ASIO Setup button in the Preferences->Audio Hardware dialog.
Make sure a device name is selected in the Input Ports section and activate the corresponding check box in the first column.

Since there is no Preferences->Audio Hardware dialog in Vegas that I can find I'm stumped.

Any ideas?

Options>prefs>audio device lets you pick the soundcard driver model. What you should choose depends on what sound card you have, Windows Classic is usually a good bet for better cards (tell us what you have and we'll help you out further).

The one device type you don't want is Adobe Default Windows Sound Driver
(this is installed by Premiere 7, aka Pro 1.0, and later)

I have an M-Audio Revolution card and the Audio Device Type is set to M-Audio Revo ASIO. This setup has been working flawlessly for over a year.

Time to re-install?

I have a vague recollection of installing an Adobe Audition trial which set up the same thing. I think I went into Audition and deselected it. Or possibly the startup folder loaded it.
