Strange Video Capture occurance

I ran into an odd problem over the last few days.

I had been using video capture happily and seamlessly until I downloaded and installed "Download Accelerater"

After I installed it, my Video Capture program would load up and give me a "The device is either not connected or in use by another program" type of message. It didn't matter if the camera was on or off, it would not recognize it.

I then had to restore my computer to an earlier setting using the XP restore utility.

I tried re-installing the Dowload Accelerater to see if that was really it, and the same thing occured.

Maybe my setup is particularly prone to this bug, but I just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else was having a similar problem.

BTW with my 56K modem, the Download Accelerator didn't really help.

Download Accelerator is a crock. Your download is going to run as fast as it is going to run. There isn't much you can
do about it except get a faster connection. I would suggest you uninstall it from your computer lest it just interfere
with other things as well.

Two things I like about these apps: Ability to resume, and they start downloading immediately without forcing me to press 'save' and pick a location.

I don't have onbe installed right now, but I've tried several including Download Accelerator Plus and never had one cause this error. Dunno if this is the one referred to.

Yes, it was Download Accelerator Plus.

Maybe my system just doesn't like it.

I do agree with Cheinworks about the capabilities (especially the resume function) of these types of apps. There is nothing worse than waiting an hour on your 56K modem just to have the connection be interupted and having to start over again.

I do know; however, that REAL DOWNLOAD has the resume function, so I may re-install that.

I most humbly must retract my analysis of the problem between Download Accelerator Plus and Video Capture. I have erred.

The other thing that I did, both times after installing DAP was to rename my capture folder from 'video' to 'avideo' so that it would appear first on my explorer window. This caused the error, and by going into the capture properties and changing the folder name there, my problem was corrected.

I apologize if I mislead anyone. The silver lining is that now I know that if I rename my capture folder, I must also rename the folder in the capture options section of Video Capture. I hope my mistake will in some small way benefit other fellow VV3 users.

just use opera and you won't need a dl accelerator. it has that stuff built in.
