Strictly conform to AVI2 specs bugs

I had the AVI2 spec selection checked and I came to this mysterious bug. I edited a video file (60 minute long, about 12 GBs), added a few trasnitions and when rendering it to PAL AVI for wishing to encode to mpeg2 with TMPGEnc. The result was a big file of 12 GBs BUT the length was about 5 minutes!!!I thought I made a mistake and chose to render a loop only region and re-rendered it again. Again the same result, big file but only 5 minute long!!! I went crazy and selected the whole timeline as loop region and -re-rendered it. Again the same result. Whenever I open the file in Media Player or again with Vegas 4 the file is only 5 minute. I unistalled and reistalled Vegas but the same happened. When I unchecked the option to AVI2 spec the problem disappeared.
Does anyone have a clue about this, or what is this AVI2 spec? Does AVI2 help us in any way in quality or any other?

I've run into this problem in a certain way. I own a DV-REX-RT and rendered out 15 minute chunks from VV4. I take these ~4gig files into rex-edit or rex-video and they show up as 4minute 43 second AVI files. IF I bring those same files into Premiere they are a full 15 minutes long and play just fine.

WEIRD? I'll try and document this formally and send it into SonicFoundry

I recall a similar 4:42 issue a while back. The short answer is in Options => Preferences... => General, make sure that "Strictly conform to AVI2 specification" is not checked (unchecked is the default).

Hope this helps!
