I think you mean Windows Media Center, right? Windows Media files are WMV and WMA.

WTV is not supported in Vegas, due to licensing criteria.
You can rewrap them in VideoRedo TV Suite, also remove commercials and fix transport stream errors.

I've tried VideoRedo and didn't do a good job at removing commercials plus it costs as much Vegas Studio. Freemake and Handbrake can 'rewrap' the file, but I end up with audio sync issues.

I've tried Movie Maker Live, but it only outputs WMV which I can't stream to my HDTV. I would really like a 'real' video editor that can properly import these files.

Thanks

How much more would you like to pay for Movie Studio in order to have a licensed WTV codec, "if" such a thing were available?

The commercial cutter in VRD is fully configurable, and you you should ALWAYS run Quickstream Fix on your files first, before anything else. That should prevent sync issues, "assuming" your output settings are correct.

Freemake and Handbrake do not "rewrap" your files; they are converters, not muxers. Best.

Cyberlink PowerDirector can handle .WTV files.
