Personally I would choose either the Dynaudio BM5a w/matching sub or Adam A7 with matching sub. Street price a little less than $3300 for either of these systems.

Thanks. How about at around $1500 not including sub?

B&W 801D, if cost isn't a major factor !

What were you old monitors? Are you looking to step up in quality, down in price, or something else?

Old as in 80's Klipsch KG4's. What I had. Free is a very good price.

I'd like to spend $1000-1500 for 5 identical speakers of the best quality I can get for that much. Passive is preferable as they are multi-purpose as in being my entertainment when I'm working on other things.

The B&W's Geoff suggested were a little out of my price range.

Anything from Blue Sky is good. I've got a the 5.1 System One setup and love it. Comes with five speakers, sub and bass management unit.

I also use the Blue Sky's and find that I can listen to these for a longer period of time before ear fatigue sets in. I was using the Mackie HR824's before using the Blue Sky's. At least worth a look/listen.
