Stumped - Timing Of Insert Text Media

I have a video and I am inserting some text media in several places. The problem is, I need the text media to only show up for about one second, no more.

After inserting the media, I click on it and drag to the left to shorten it up. The issue is that I cannot shorten it to one second. I can get it down to about 2 to 2.5 seconds but if I try to go any lower, it won't show up at all, it just goes to zero.

There must be some way to specify how long it stays on the screen besides trying to drag it with the mouse.

How can I fix this?

Thanks.

The easiest way is to expand the time line (zoom into the time line). You do this by clicking on the + sign in the lower right corner of the time line window. You can take it down to where you can easily set timeing to 1-2 frames.

You're probably hitting a snapping problem. Under the Options menu you can disable snapping and that may help. Zooming in is also good. The Up and Down arrows zoom faster than clicking. Usually the mouse wheel zooms too, though i wouldn't know for sure as i don't have any mice with wheels (and like it that way).

What i often do in this situation is leave snapping on, move the cursor to the start of the event, check the timecode there, add 1 second in my head, and move the cursor to that position. Alt-left & -right arrows move one frame at a time for accurate positioning. You can then drag the end of the event to the cursor and it will snap there. Alternatively you could split at that position and delete the rest.

A little experimentation will let you find which way works best for you.
