subclips plays slower than original video files

Hello,

Do you have any solution for below explained Vegas Pro behaviour?

I created proxy video files to make a playback smoother.

The proxy video files plays fines. I know that they are linked to media files.

Then I created subclips based on the original media video files (which already have proxy equivalents), but these subclips has only part of the original media video files durations, because it was my goal to have them shorter than original media files.

So i.e. when media video file is 10 seconds length, the subclip created on this media video files is shorter i.e. is 5 seconds length.

These subclips don't play as smooth as original media video files.

I noticed that I cannot create proxy file for these subclips, but I would like to.

How can I make the subclips play smoother or create proxy files for subclips?

Is it possible to achieve it for subclips in Vegas Pro?

Regards

Marcin

I am 42. I have been creating videos since 2009 (the date when my first daughter was born in). My first video software was Pinnacle, next one was Sony Vegas 8 (I am not sure if remember it correctly). I am also a developer and wedding movie operator and editor. For example: I have created an Android app which let me control Vegas Pro rendering progress level on Android smartphone. I created it for fun, because I also love programming. I also created my own plugin for Audio To Text feature specified usage from Vegas Pro 19. I created proxy creation plugin which uses multiple GPU threads (maximum 3) to create proxy files for Vegas Pro. I also written many others plugin/softwares which enhance my video editing, also wedding editing.

Vegas always creates subclips based on the original files and not the proxy files. This question you raised is very interesting and I think it deserves to be evaluated more carefully. @VEGASDerek

The Swap Video files function also has problems with subclips. If there are subclips in the project it is impossible to swap the files.

As an alternative solution for your case, you can create a copy of the event and then create a Take using the multicam feature. This Take will have the same function as the subclip. See my screen record bellow.

I can add that the subclips I mentioned in my initial post are created by my own C# plugin and they starts not from the beginning of the original media file and they have different length compared to the original media video file as I mentioned in the first post.
