I am getting totally frustrated with subtitles. I have a subtitle button that toggles the subtitles on and off using switched menus. The menus are identical except for a checkmark on one and an x on the other to indicate if the subtitles are on or off.
My first problem was that DVDA doesn't seem to be able to turn subtitles off from the menu so after combing this forum, I put a 2nd subtitle track in that is almost empty to use as "off".
Now when the DVD starts it runs a script that turns the subtitles on and links to the "subtitle on" menu. Some DVD players ignore the "subtitle on" command and proceed to the "subtitle on" menu anyway. Then when the movie is played the subtitles are off which is completely confusing for the user. Other strange things happen occasionally too. Like turning them off while watching the movie, then returning to the menu to see that they are supposedly on!
Anyway, I have script plastered all over the place to try to fix these problems but so far haven't completely solved it.
Does anyone have script for subtitles that consistently works??
