Sudden slowdown bigtime

Hello -

I added 1300 clips to my media bins in a project on my editing station (no internet) in SVP10 a few months ago and all was well. The few clips on the timeline's preview was acceptable and I never shut off the computer. Now I've returned and find the whole box including the OS (XPP 32bit) has slowed to a crawl. XPP now takes a minute to start and VSP10 takes 1 minute just to open (not the project-just the editor). The project takes 10 minutes to finally open and skips on the preview (set to auto) about 50 frames at a time. Of course, I can't possibly edit under these circumstances. The processor says it's a quadl core and running at 3.10Ghz and I've run memtest86+ on the 4GB of Crucial ram with no errors (I took out all the sticks, test each, and re-seated them). I would seriously like to know what happened to my box to suddenly make it slowdown.

What type of media?

Have you done a Windows update recently?

There are 2 other sort-of-similar cases posted recently. Probably unrelated but you never know, especially if Windows update is involved: VP10 in Windows 7 and VP13

It's HD 1080 media. No recent update...box is not on the internet. Now cpu-z is showing it's a quad core. It said 2 before...

Well, I don't know what happened with all that but I did a system restore back to March and everything is running well again. Thanks anyway.
