Suddenly - Capture Problems

Hi,
after years of capturing video with no problems - suddenly, I am unable to capture video...

I am trying to capture video from my DVR through my DV Camera, which I have done many times before.

Now, instead of the Sony Capture dialog popping up, I get some dialog, which I guess is Windows, offering to capture the video instead. Unfortunately, it notices there is no tape in the camera and will go no further. I tried, in Control Panel-Autoplay, to change the action for video devices to "Ask every time", but when I try to capture video, it has reset to "import video using Windows Live Photo Gallery". And so I get the same problem again.

Meanwhile, the Sony Capture App has "Preview Turned Off" displayed on its blue screen, and "no capture device detected" in the status bar.

The only software I installed recently was Cyberlink's Power DVD 9 which came with a new BluRay writer I just installed.

I uninstalled that but still cannot get the Sony App to recognise the device.

Anyone got any ideas how I can capture my video again?

Thanks,

Bryan.

If you're using a pass-through set-up, you'll need to tell the program not to look for timecode or to control the camcorder during capture.

In the DV capture program, go to Options and open Preferences.

On the General screen, uncheck things like Enable DV Device Control, Warn When Device Communications Error Occurs, Warn if Timecode Cannot Be Found and Notify if Dropped Frames.
