Suggestion for 5.0b: Edit Original (Image)

Just an idea:

If you were to right-click on a still image file in the media bin, it would be helpful if that very image file would open in the system's default imaging editing software or file extension app association (i.e. Photoshop).

This would not require app-specific programming; just use Windows' file associations.

This, to me, would be a big time-saver; great for fixing issues that show up on an external monitor. (i.e. red-eye)

After the file was edited, it would show up in the project as the edited version, like it already does.

If Vegas can already show the containing folder, this should be an easy tweak to implement.

This would be a very big time saver.

Kentwolf,

just in case you hadn't spotted it right click in Vegas explorer and you can "Open Media in Player" which will open stills in the Windows associated application

It would be a good worflow tool to have this work like sound forge on takes i.e. Open Copy in Media Player creates a Take 2 file and opens it in the associated app

After looking at this a little closer, having to invoke the media from the Vegas Explorer is really different from invoking it from the Windows Explorer.

This really needs to be do-able from the Media Bin.

Either you have to hunt it down in the Vegas Explorer or Windows Explorer...basically the same thing.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

This really needs to be added to Vegas.
