Suggestion for SCS re Pro Type Titler

I find this counterintuitive to work with, largely because it's not obvious from the display which automation setting you're working with, or even which character you're working on within your title (if you're working on characters individually).

Could the automation setting that you're working on be highlighted at the left hand side of the display to show that it is active? This simple step would clear a lot of the confusion around use of the PTT.

I've just spent ages adding keyframes to the wrong character of the text. My own fault admittedly, but could have been immediately apparent if Vegas showed which characters and automation settings had focus at that moment.

Jon.

There are a lot of threads on how confusing Pro Type is to work with.
One of the best way to learn it, is to search this board for Pro Type and you'll find a lot of answers. I think VASST has DVD training for it too.

it does highlight. The little "@" sign highlights. Plus the "track" list is always there, doesn't hide (can't hide it either. :( )

When you modify a specific character, it does list the character in the "track" listing & it sub-selects the character in the preview part of the pro type window. but it only lists the character *IF* you push the little "@" button.

I've got quite a bit of experience with protype so feel free to ask anything & if I don't know I'm sure I can figure it out.

be sure to search youtube for examples too. All my examples include a link to the collection for you to use & look at.

Pro Type Titler was such a disappointment for me. I had high hopes of being able to finally do some really cool titles from within Vegas and not having to go to an external app. Pro Type Titler was NOT the answer.

Boris RED, After Effects, Motion, LiveType, & even 3D Invigorator are more intuitive than Pro Type Titler. Whoever thought of how it should work must have never used any other Titling app or just wanted to make another cute little Flash based app.

Pro Type Titler needs lots of work.
I have seen very amateur looking titles or titles that could have been done just using Vegas and not Pro Type Titler but I am yet to see any really cool titling examples done with it.

imho, all titles are amateurish looking unless they're in front of a big production.

Thanks folks.

Happy Friar - I may well be in touch with more Q's for you then!

I use the title functions frequently (though at a fairly basic level) as I need to label moves for salsa videos etc.

However, I may well end up just sticking to the basic media generator styles and ignore PTT unless I get my head around it.

Cheers

99% of the time the normal text plugin & credit scrolls will solve the problem. also check out the links in this thread here. Some cool flash graphics you could use in your videos if you wanted. would work great with protype or normal text.

What I don't understand about Pro-Titler is that there is almost no documentation about how to use it (unless I missed it in the manual). Why should I have to pay $59 to find out it's features? No offense meant against the good people at Vasst, I just don't understand why Sony gave us a counter intuitive titler and did not document it's features. That's one of the great things about Adobe. They teach you how to use their products.

PPT seemed like it was done completely separately from vegas. I don't know why there's no doc's either, especially with all the other documentation they have, which is very very good.

Kind of like it was meant for Vegas 9, but it was working now so it was included with 8. Hence no info on how to use it. But I've found the GUI very easy to use, it's the sub-menu's that are hard to figure out.

I have tried looking at that site several times but unfortunately it is in some other language than English and I don't understand. Is there a setting in Windows or IE that I can change so that the site is translated?
