Could Apple release stand-alone codecs that would negate the requirement for QuickTIme?

Would this require rewriting some code for existing programs to accommodate this change?

Adobe and others are in the same boat. If they find a solution, will it only be made available to their subscription customers?

I use Quick Time Alternative, SF and VP just uses the codec I think.

I find it more stable to convert any mp3 or m4a audio files into WAV files first. This way, Vegas, and the underlying system, doesn't have to work so hard decompressing things.

Windows10 with Vegas 11 Pro (most recent build). Intel Core i7-3770 @ 3.40GHz 3.90 GHz, 32GB ram, separate audio and video disks. Also Vegas 17 Pro on same system. GPU: NVDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER. Dynamic RAM preview=OFF.
