Figured out the issue when a counterpart had the same problem with Vista and previoulsy had V7 installed.

After installing V7 we would occasionaly get a com surrogate has stopped working error, which appears to be fairly common with vVista for several reasons. A popular solution was to disable the DEP for dllhost.exe which solved the com surrogate error. When we turned it back on Vegas 8 started working just fine.

So far the projects with m2t's whose peaks would never build are building just fine in V8. I am about to work on a project that had several black frames so i will confirm if that is resolved. I will render tonight an HDV project that has been problematic to render.

looking forward to hearing your experience with black frames or lack thereof in V8.

Last night I heavily edited a project that consisetently had black frames with V7e and VERY happy to report that so far there have not been any on the Vita machine or XP machine and performance even seems better. I rendered 2 projects one which just would not render in V7e and both rendered perfectly (over 2 hours each) and rendered VERY FAST because of the smart render feature. I haven't fully QAed the videos but spot checking it looks like they are perfect. So far excellent, my life looks to be so much better (knock on wood!)
