I have the same problem here. Vegas Pro 10 and Pro 12.
If I move 5.1 panorama of an audio track on a manually generated keyframe,
all portions of this audio track inherit the new position, not at the new keyframe position only as it is supposed to be.
If I switch automation modes around, the surround panorama cursor stays in diamond shape and does not change to a wheel as it is supposed to be.
The suggested keyframe generation from the surround panorama window does not generate a new keyframe either.
Has anybody had any success keyframing surround panorama positions ?
Do I have to unlock anything else ?

Got it. Press the automation symbol (wheel) after dropdown selection of automation mode. Not the dropdown alone. Otherwise the controls stay in trim mode and never execute automation. Bah.
